WHAT IS RINGWORM?
Ringworm (aka tina corporis) is a contagious infection that occurs on the surface of the skin. It is caused by various types of fungus, the same as those that cause athlete’s foot. The name comes from the characteristic ring that appears on the infected person’s skin. Despite its name, the condition has nothing to do with actual worms. School-age children are commonly affected.
